Community Partners

WiredWoods collaborates with high-quality community-based organizations on several initiatives including: 1) integrating the proven WiredWoods curriculum in their established programs, 2) offering joint workshops during school vacations and after-school time and 3) welcoming WiredWoods summer campers into their established school-year programs. To date, our community-based partners include:

TechBoston - TechBoston is a Boston Public School's program offering high-level courses to prepare BPS students for technology-related careers and post-secondary opportunities. TechBoston courses are being offered at 19 high schools and 10 middle schools.

TechBoston works in partnership with the Boston Private Industry Council to structure classroom and work site learning experiences for high school students. High school courses offered through TechBoston include: Cisco Networking, A+ PC Hardware Repair, Webmaster, Oracle, Sun Java, and MOUS. TechBoston is also introducing Robotics and Web Design at several middle schools.

Citizen Schools - Citizen Schools is revolutionizing how children spend their out-of-school time -- through fun, challenging, hands-on "apprenticeships" that unite volunteer Citizen Teachers and small groups of children, ages 9 to 14. Children come away with a deep understanding of the subject and with practical skills they can use for life. Each apprenticeship also ends in a Wow -- a high-quality product or performance that allows children to be heroes in their own community. Founded in 1995 and now running at twelve Boston campuses, Citizen Schools serves 1,200 students a year

Boys & Girls Club - The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) is to help boys and girls, generally from disadvantaged circumstances, develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. In each of BGCB's five clubhouses, children have the opportunity to participate in activities spanning a common set of six core program areas: Education; the Arts; Life Skills; Leadership & Character Development; Sports, Fitness & Recreation;
and Technology.
